It took longer than expected, but the sale of Lakewood School in Kenora has finally been completed.
Last night, the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board announced it has sold the elementary school to the Seven Generations Education Institute for 1.4 million dollars.
Director of education with the public school board Jack McMaster he’s glad the trustees have agreed to the sale.
Now that Lakewood has a new owner, the public school board has agreed to close it at the end of this school year.
As a result, the decision to close Evergreen School has been rescinded, and it will now remain open.
