Saturday Is Hazardous Waste Day In Dryden

Another chance to clean out your garage and get rid of unwanted material and liquids.

The City of Dryden is once again teaming up with the Rotary Club to offer Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day.

The environmental and health campaign is Saturday from 8:30am until 4:00pm at the Public Works Yard at 159 King Street.

Rotary member Roger Gould was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Tuesday to stress the initiative is free of charge.

Gould says volunteers will be on site to empty your vehicle and separate all of the waste.

They will be collecting flammable, corrosive, explosive and poisonous items, as well as old paint, batteries, acids and drain cleaning products.

Gould says fluorescent tubes as well as pharmaceuticals and prescription drugs will also be accepted.

You are asked to not mix chemicals together, and to bring them in their identifiable containers.

Commercial products won’t be accepted.

Last year, officials dealt with 368 vehicles.

Gould is hoping to surpass 400 this time around.
