The Canadian Mint is going to begin phasing out the penny on February 4th.
There will be obvious changes when making a purchase or doing your banking.
The rounding will not be done on single items but on the total bill of sale.
If the price ends in a one, two, six, or seven it gets rounded down to 0 or 5; and rounded up if it ends in three, four, eight or nine.
However, if you are paying for something directly out of your debit or credit account, the cents will not be rounded up or down.
Rolled pennies can be dropped off at any bank.
