Scam’s in Red Lake Area

Con artists appear to be growing fond of the Red Lake area as OPP are reporting a number of attempted scams in recent weeks.
One fraud is a request for personal information where a widow contacts an individual advising them that she has decided to give her $9.8-million estate to a stranger.
Another scam is an e-mail request from the “wife of the former President of Liberia”, with a request for an urgent business transaction.
And the very popular “grandson” scam is back.
Someone calls claiming to be a family member and in desperate need of money.
The golden rule is, “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!”
