A short drive west on highway 11 was well worth it for Joe Scharf and his curling foursome from the Port Arthur Curling Club in Thunder Bay as they captured the Northern Ontario Mixed Curling title in Atikokan this morning. Scharf defeat the defending champion Phillips rink of Sudbury 7-3 after Phillips had survived two tie breakers Saturday. Scharf and his rink will now represent Northern Ontario at the Canadian Championships Novermber 20-28.
