The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has decided to close Evergreen School in Kenora.
Trustees voted unanimously this week to close the elementary school at the end of this school year.
Superintendent of Business Dean Carrie says they used the information collected by a Committee to make their final decision.
Carrie says finances played a major role in the decision.
He notes the Board could save about $60,000 a year by closing Evergreen
Under the proposal from administration, most of the Evergreen students will be moved to Lakewood, which is being under-utilized.
The other key recommendation is the development of a new elementary school at Valleyview.
