Laid off workers looking to go back to school will now have more options to consider.
The Province has expanded its Second Career Retraining Program.
Cathy Emes is an Employment Councilor in Northwestern Ontario and says for the first time, the program will now cover the costs of eligible workers wanting to enroll in a short-term program.
She notes the program will also fund short term training such as a heavy-equipment or A-Z truck driver training, something that was not available when the program was started earlier this year.
Emes adds the program will also be open to any worker who was laid off after January 1, 2005 as well as those who may have taken an interim job since.
