Second Period Explosion Results In Ice Dogs 3-1 Win

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs came out flat but quickly rebounded for a second straight win in the Bill Salonen Cup.

Austin Kuhn scored in the opening period to give the visiting English River Miners a 1-0 lead.

However, the crowd of some 817 rose to their feet in the second period as the top line of Braeden Allkins, Derek McPhail and Kris Hamlin all connected for goals on Michael Lenko, who was under siege for much of the period.

Patrick Zubick did the rest making some key stops in the end, to finish with 26 saves.

Lenko answered with a 33 save performance.

Game 3 of the SIJHL Final goes Tuesday in Red Lake.
