Select Small Businesses In North Receive Federal Money

This is the end of Small Business Week and the federal government is taking the opportunity to support a handful of northern entrepreneurs.

FedNor Minister Patty Hajdu has announced $8,165,932 in funding for 15 small business initiatives.

Hajdu says the investment will help create and maintain more than 681 jobs.

Eagle River Enterprises is on the receiving end of $17,655.

The money will be used to install a new insulated, energy-efficient garage bay door, which will reduce the carbon footprint by lowering heating costs.

The Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund is welcoming $960,000.

The funding allows business counselling and investment services to continue over a three-year period for Indigenous small businesses.
