The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association is pleased following a series of meetings at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference in Ottawa.
President Dave Canfield says they were able to speak with six Provincial Cabinet Ministers as well Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak.
Canfield says he noticed more commitment by the government to work with leaders in the North.
He stressed the importance of the costly mill assessments and its impact on Dryden, Fort Frances and Thunder Bay.
Canfield also brought up the issue of rising OPP policing costs and concerns of closing the Thunder Bay Generating Station.
