Seven Year-Old Players Wanted For New Spring ‘AAA’ Team

Historically in our area, 7-year-old kids haven’t been able to participate in spring ‘AAA’ hockey due to location and costs.

One man is trying to change that as Bryan Boshold is forming a regional team called the Sunset Country Razorbacks.

It will follow winter hockey and be based out of Vermilion Bay for practices, with the possibility of additional ice time in Kenora.

Anyone born in 2011 from Dryden, Red Lake, Ear Falls, Sioux Lookout, Kenora and across the region is invited to an evaluation camp on November 10th and 11th.

The Razorbacks will play elite Spring tournaments in Manitoba and Minnesota.

Boshold says the cost to parents will be less than half of what it would be in Winnipeg.

The team is sponsored by local businesses that have graciously come forward to assist them with funds that will provide full team uniforms, two jerseys, socks, pant shells and helmet decals.

The idea behind the logo, team colours and team name comes from the area and the environment we all live and enjoy throughout.

The Razorbacks received assistance from Red Lake Marine, Superior Airways and Super 8 Motel.

The team will consist of 15 players and 2 goalies.
