Residents living in Dryden can expect to pay more for sewer and water next year.
City treasurer Steven Lansdell-Roll says in order to meet the demands of the system, they have to increase rates.
“We are currently not investing in the capital programs to achieve the life-cycle replacement of our assets,” Lansdell-Roll told Dryden city council earlier this week.
“What that means is that our infrastructure deficit is growing.”
Lansdell-Roll told council they are looking at at 6.3 percent increase in each of the next three years.
“So this is not something that staff are just coming up without any reference. The 6.3 % increase that staff is recommending aligns directly with this long term financial plan.”
Dryden council has agreed to the increase in sewer and water.
The report to city council also suggests there also be a 6.3 percent increase in each of the next two years.
The new rates will go into effect as of December 29th.
