Former Police Chief Shayne MacKinnon is Dryden’s new Councilor.
Debate was cut last night as a special motion was moved through, allowing MacKinnon to replace Mel Fisher.
MacKinnon was the runner-up in the last by-election and the motion to quickly move him in was introduced by Brian Collins.
MacKinnon says he’s ready to get down to business.
He says he wants to work with council and the community to turn things around.
He stresses the next few years will be difficult but notes the City must keep thinking forward.
MacKinnon says its Council’s challenge to “pick itself up and dust itself off”.
He wants to see a financial recovery plan.
MacKinnon is also looking at the pending strategic plan.
He says Council must find solutions that are entrenched in the financial recovery plan and the strategic plan.
