Sioux Lookout Drinking Water Safe; Probe Continues

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout says the contamination of Town Beach is not threatening the Town’s water supply.
Community Development Coordinator Brian MacKinnon says they have received a clean bill of health from the Northwestern Health Unit.
Meantime, CN Rail Spokesperson Lindsey Fedchyshyn says work to clean up what appears to be a diesel fuel spill started Monday.
Fedchyshyn says the contamination area is roughly 200-feet long and 5-feet wide and is limited to that area.
The spill was found near the CN Rail yard last Thursday.
Officials are trying to determine the source of the spill in order to cut it off.
CN is working closely with the Ministry of Environment and local officials.
