Sioux Lookout is turning its attention on bringing industry into the community.
The Municipality is known for its strong ties with the service sector and government agencies.
Economic Development Manager Vicki Blanchard says work is underway to establish an Iron Plant in the area.
Blanchard says the Rockex Mining Corporation project will bring with it additional infrastructure and jobs.
The mine is expected to employ at least 180-people, with a total of 716 direct and in-direct jobs.
Once the mine is up and running, annual operational revenue for Sioux Lookout would total roughly $471,000.
Average salaries would be $97,500-$234,000 for supervisors and engineering and $70,200-$120,744 for mine operations.
Blanchard calls the Lake St. Joseph project an important one for the entire region.
She notes they are working with Tamaka Gold and Noront Resources on other projects.
