Sioux Lookout Looking to Ban Plastic Bags

It looks like Sioux Lookout might be the first community in the province to ban plastic shopping bags at check-outs.
The Town has passed the first reading of the bylaw.
There will be a public consultation starting this week and will continue until June 11th.
Second reading of the By-Law is scheduled to take place in July.
Municipal Clerk Mary McKenzie says the Town is also looking at proposing set fines, which will start at $150 and go as high as $500.
