Sioux Lookout Man Convicted on Assault Charge

A 24-year-old Sioux Lookout man has been convicted in what the Judge calls a “gruesome” sexual assault on a 21-year-old woman.
The decision came down in Kenora court following a 2-week trial on aggravated sexual assault and attempted murder charges.
Charles Hattie was eventually convicted of Assault in the August 2007 incident.
The woman was found partially conscious, hidden in a bush area off a walking trail in Sioux Lookout the morning after the assault.
She was airlifted to Thunder Bay Hospital and treated for cuts to her face and head and minor fractures in her skull.
Hattie will be sentenced in April.
