Northwestern Ontario could have a higher profile on the Federation of Canadian Municialities.
Sioux Lookout town councillor Yolaine Kirlew says she is seeking a seat on the board of directors as the third vice-president.
Kirlew says she wants to bring a northern perspective to the FCM.
Kirlew is running against a municipal politician from Ottawa.
The FCM elections are taking place this weekend in Halifax.
