SIU Clear Dryden Police

Dryden City police officers have been cleared of any wrong-doing in the death of a 25 year old man last May. Dustin Cuyler Douglas Rouillard died after being incarcerated in the cells of the Dryden Police Station for intoxication.

A report by the Ontario Special Investigations Unit, says Rouillard had initially been taken to the Dryden Regional Health Sciences Center on May 11th due to a high level of alcohol in his system.

He wandered away from the hospital twice, both times being picked up by police and returned. When he was discharged the next day, he was sent to the police station to sober up.
While there he started displaying signs of mental distress.
At that point police returned him to the hospital, where he died a short time later.

The SIU says they still haven’t determined the exact cause of death, but the post-mortem shows there was no sign of misconduct while he was in police custody.
