The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has been called in to look into a fatal incident in Atikokan.
Provincial Police arrested a 37 year old man Sunday for violating his bail conditions.
The accused was transported to the OPP Detachment for lodging.
Police say about three hours later, while in police custody, the man went into medical distress.
He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The SIU’s mandate is to conduct criminal investigations of situations involving police and civilians that resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
