The Dryden Fire Service is reminding residents that smoke alarms are
required on every level of a home and outside all sleeping areas.
Fire officials have been told to crack down and issue fines for those
who violate the law.
Deputy Fire Chief Ken Kurz says families should have an exit plan if a smoke alarm does
sound.
Kurz is also encouraging homeowners to install carbon monoxide
detectors noting fire crews are now called to reports of carbon monoxide on
a weekly basis.
