The Dryden Regional Health Centre Board of Directors is still
contemplating a smoking ban on hospital property.
Spokesperson Darlene Furlong says a blanket smoking ban, keeping the
statue quo or phasing in a total ban are 3-options on the table right now.
Furlong says about half of the 128-staff they surveyed were in favour
of a blanket smoking ban.
One person indicated they would likely quit if a ban was introduced.
Some concerns remain including enforcement and smokers migrating to
Goodale street to light up.
A decision is expected in at the February Board meeting.
