Smoking Ban Turned Down at Dryden Hospital

Another attempt to make the Dryden Regional Health Centre a 100% smoke free facility has failed.
The Board of Directors has decided that its not interested in pursuing the issue further, after another request was made by the Medical Advisory Committee.
CAO Wade Petranik says its been an on-going issue since 2006.
Petranik stresses enforcement and respecting patient rights are behind the decision to not go smoke-free.
He notes efforts will continue to promote existing smoke-free programs and services available to staff and patients.
Smokers can go to the outside courtyard to light up.
Petranik says they plan to add more signage to direct people there.
