Smoking money-Sarsfield

The Chief Medical Officer of Health for the region says he has mixed reaction to extra money being provided by the province for the Ontario Smoke-free campaign.

The program will be getting 50 million dollars this year,
which is a 66 percent increase from last year.

Dr. Pete Sarsfield says the two million dollars set aside for aboriginal smoking prevention programs just isn’t enough.

N062 Q: …NOW. (20 SECS.)

Sarsfield adds that 7.7 million dollars set aside for public health units is welcome and greatly needed.

He expects most of that funding will be used for inspections.
