Snowfall helps refill local lakes and rivers

The Lake of the Woods Control Board says the refill period has started.

Over the past couple of days, the English River basin has received above average snowfall.

The Kenora area saw 14 centimetres, while Sioux Lookout had twice that amount at 28 centimetres.

As a result, water levels are starting to rise.

On Lake of the Woods, the lake level is expected to increase 3 to 7 centimetres, but no change is expected in water levels on Lac Seul.
