Snowmobile crash on Lake of the Woods leaves rider seriously injured

A snowmobile collision on Lake of the Woods has left a rider with serious injuries.

Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora say officers responded Friday evening to a snowmobile crash in the Clearwater Bay area.

Investigators say a 60-year-old man struck an ice ridge while operating the snowmobile.

Emergency responders, including Kenora Northwest Emergency Medical Services, provided care at the scene before the rider was transported by air ambulance to the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for treatment.

Police say the man is now in stable condition.

Officers are reminding snowmobilers to travel according to conditions and skill level, watch for changing ice conditions, and always tell someone their planned route and return time before heading out.
