Racing fever is heating up in Dryden.
The Dryden Drag Race Association is hosting its first snowmobile drag races on Saturday, January 20th at the Flying Club on Wabigoon Lake.
Organizer Laura Zajarny says the event is open to the public, and spectators are welcome.
Zajarny says it will be a series of races based on Stock, Improved Stock, Pro Stock as well as others.
She stresses there will be classes for all makes and models of sleds.
The drag length will be 660-feet, with four racers going head-to-head at any given time.
Zajarny says two years ago her daughter came up with the idea of a ‘Sled and Shine’ as a fundraiser for Safe Grad.
She notes the event took off and re-established racing in our community.
Zajarny says that’s where the Association got the idea of a Drag Race, noting they hope to make it an annual event, with possible expansion to Oval races.
