Wait times for social housing in the Kenora District are on the decline.
The Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association reports that 382 families were waiting for social housing in the past year, down from 546 in 2010.
Spokesperson Shared Karur says that’s well below the provincial average, as most communities are faced with increased wait times.
“The current economy has had a dramatic impact regarding the number of people able to afford housing. It’s also related to that incomes haven’t really kept up with inflation or the rising prices of homes”.
The Association says the Kenora District is leading the pack in shortest wait times.
