George Solomon and Sons Machining and Manufacturing hasn’t missed a beat since losing its Dryden business to fire five years ago this week.
General Manager Roger Gould says the incident allowed them to rebuild and expand at their new location on Highway 17 in Oxdrift.
Gould stresses they wouldn’t have been able to rebuild without the support from the community.
He says they now have a staff of 31-employees, with a full machining and welding shop.
He adds they have also been able to bring on four apprentices from the Dryden area.
Gould says the apprentices are working in the trucking and machinist departments.
He stresses it’s nice that they can give back to the community and keep their young people employed here, instead of out-migration.
Gould says they are now a dealer of Navistar and have been able to establish a retail store.
He notes their business has “risen from the ashes like the Phoenix.”
