Some OPSEU Members Reach Contract With Teachers

Labour peace among civil service workers is within reach.

The province says its negotiated a tentative three year agreement with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union.

Union spokesperson Sandra Snider says members will be holding ratification votes over the next couple of weeks.

Snider notes she hasn’t seen the deal, but the bargaining team is recommending acceptance.

She believes it’s the best contract they can get.

Meantime, there’s still no agreement reached in the dispute between the government and correctional workers who are also members of OPSEU.

Both sides there remain at the bargaining table hashing out issues specific to that group.
