Spring Seatbelt Blitz

The Spring Seatbelt Campaign kicks off today (Wednesday) as Regional Police try to crack down on deaths and injuries caused by not buckling up.
Police estimate that for every 1% increase in seatbelt use, five lives are saved in Ontario every year.
This spring’s campaign will focus on drivers who fail to secure their children safely.
Child safety seat clinics have shown that 80% of car seats are installed or used incorrectly.
Seatbelt tickets issued by a police officer have a set fine amount of $240, and upon conviction, drivers are assessed two demerit points against their licence.
