Start of School!

Sounds of school buses, kids screaming and ringing school bells will
fill the air today as classes are back in session for another year.
However, sounds of frustration may be heard in the Keewatin-Patricia
District School Board office as officials continue to wrestle with the
2006 budget.
Annie Kidder is with the Lobby Group ‘People for Education’
and says the loss of remote and rural grants has hurt the Board.
Kidder says the Public Board had their budget cut by $1.3-million this year and has now been faced with difficult decisions.
The Board has been working over the past few weeks to cut costs and
trustees are expected to pass a balanced budget on September 12th.
