The Highway Safety Education Committee of Northwestern Ontario is asking motorists to stay alert for wildlife while traveling area Highway’s.
Large 4 by 6 foot signs are now mounted on the Caribou Coach bus between Fort Frances and Thunder Bay and Sysco Food trucks between White River and Thunder Bay.
OPP Constable Rod Brown says they hope to have the rolling billboards in place in the Dryden and Kenora area in the near future.
Brown says motorists should always scan the shoulders and ditches for large animals and notes they should slow down especially at night.
Police investigated over 1,000 vehicle-wildlife collisions across the Region last year.
