Still Some Concerns with Mining Operation

According to the Sierra Legal Defence Fund, the mining exploration
company Platinex still has equipment and claims in the area of Big Trout
Lake First Nation.
Spokesperson Justin Duncan says the company appears to have left the
First Nation but community members still have some concerns.
Duncan says the ore the company was exploring is highly acidic and
could potentially harm Big Trout Lake, as well as fishing and hunting in
the area.
The Defence Fund and the First Nation have written the Minister of
Northern Development and Mines, asking home to consult with the community
before mining operations are allowed to work on their land.
