The Ministry of Natural Resources continues its efforts to bring back
a stable trout population in Red Lake.
Over 100,000 yearling lake trout have been stocked in Red Lake as
part of a 10-year effort to bring back the population.
Problems were discovered in 2001 when an MNR survey determined there
were very few fish under the age of 11.
Studies found the trout were reproducing successfully everywere in the
lake with the exception of Pipestone Bay, a major spawning area.
