Stockwell Day Addresses Problems at Border

Canada’s Public Safety Minister says he would like border crossing
agents to ease up on American tourists with old driving under the influence
records.
Stockwell Day was in Kenora Thursday to meet with Conservative party
members.
Day says he spoke with U.S. President George Bush about the issue
last week and promised the Government would continue to work on the issue.
Day says he’s heard about the complaints in Northwestern Ontario about
American tourists being turned back at the border for old drunk driving
charges and he’s worried U.S. border agents may start doing the same thing
to Canadian travellers.
