Grand Chief of Treaty 3 Warren White says Day knows what is happening throughout the territory.
He calls him a strong leader for Ontario and stresses he knows the issues.
Former Ontario Regional Chief Stan Beardy says Day will be busy from day one.
Beardy says he will have to address plans to move forward and look at how they will begin to establish their economic base and generate their own revenue.
Chief Day was elected in a traditional ceremony at the All Ontario Chiefs Conference on the Rat Portage First Nation.
