Students Suspended For Not Having Proper Vaccinations

Hundreds of Thunder Bay students are being suspended because of a lack of up to date vaccination paperwork and immunizations.

Thunder Bay’s Health Unit is responsible for taking the action against the students.

Spokesperson Diana Gowanlock stresses they’ve been giving parents a heads up before any suspension orders are issued so they have a chance to get their kids vaccinated or provide the proper paperwork.

Gowanlock notes parents have four weeks to provide proof of compliance.

She notes they will continue to take action to sure everyone is up-to-date with their vaccinations.

The Northwestern Health Unit has been considering similar action, but stresses their first course of action is keeping parents informed on the importance of vaccinations.
