It was like Christmas morning for students at New Prospect School.
Grade 5 and 6 students received their personal netbooks today, which they will use in the classroom.
Technology Teacher Mary Trist says it will provide more learning opportunities for the students.
“Maybe there’s a question that’s being asked, and the kids can take it in certain directions. With the use of technology, it’s opened up the classroom so the students can go out there and get those answers.”
Trist says with the responsibility of a laptop, it provides students with those critical thinking skills that they can apply when going on websites and gathering information.
“It’s just so different. When you see the excitement in the students eyes when they’re learning, there’s nothing that makes you feel any better of a teacher then that.”
Students from grade 4 to 8 are also using the netbooks.
Shayna-Rae Kirwan says they really do come in handy and Keith Wrolstad says they help him with research.
