A good news, bad news story for a student from a remote northwestern Ontario community.
Justin Beaver from the Summer Beaver First Nation has been selected as one of 11 students to receive an Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers.
However, Beaver won’t be able to attend the ceremony in person, because he’s in hospital recovering from injuries
he sustained in an assault while attending school in Thunder Bay.
The principal of the school in Summer Beaver Jane Tuesday says Beaver has been a good role model for other students in the community.

Tuesday says Beaver decided to go to Thunder Bay to continue his schooling, because they aren’t able to provide high school classes in Summer Beaver.
She’s hoping the Lieutenant Governon will be able to present the award to Beaver in person at a later date.
