Summer school may not be everyone’s idea of a good time, but it seems to be paying dividends at the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.
The public school system ran two programs this summer.
Steven Rolfe says the literacy program for grades one, two and three students proved to be very successful.
A secondary school credit recovery program also operated this past July, offering grade 8 students a chance to pick up a high school credit before entering grade nine.
A total of 212 students enrolled in the Summer learning program for Secondary students, while 60 kids were signed up for the Summer Literacy camps.
The Board says it would like to continue the summer programs next year, but it will depend on funding.
