Cancer rates continue to climb in Northwestern Ontario thanks in part
to mother nature.
The Northwestern Health Unit is trying to help people get “Sun Safe”
to lower the risk of the deadly disease.
Spokesperson Tannis Fretter says most people take it for granted that
the sun won’t hurt them.
Fretter says people are burning faster then before, raising the risk of skin cancer.
She says the public can do their part by slapping on some sunscreen
with a minimum of SPF 15, putting on a hat and wearing sunglasses.
Fretter adds most people forget to protect there lips, noses and tips
of their ears.
