Survey Looks At Municipal Government

A Nanos Research survey shows that very few of us are aware a municipal election is only two months away.

Nik Nanos says one in three people questioned were not aware an election is taking place in October.

He says interest about the vote is lowest among young people.

Nanos says only 52% of Millennial’s are aware that a municipal election is taking place.

He suggests that politicians need to pay closer attention to youth issues to get more young people interested.

Nanos says the survey found that residents in the north are more likely to be driven by special issues during the vote.

The study also finds that a large majority of us aren’t aware of how much of our tax dollars are going to the municipal level.

Nanos says only nine cents goes to municipalities, stressing local leaders are limited on what they can do.

Nanos stresses it’s an area were more explanation is needed.
