The Red Lake Miners have hit the Canadian Junior Hockey League national rankings.
The Miners are ranked eighth in the nation.
Red Lake is 3-0 and is currently tied with Dryden GM and Thunder Bay for first in the SIJHL standings.
The Penticton Vees of the B.C. league remain number one.
Lakehead University officials are celebrating the school being included in the top half of the “Times Higher Education’s” list of top universities in the world.
The education website has the Thunder Bay school in the 601 to 800 category out of nearly 1,400 universities from 92 countries.
Officials notes they are in the same section of the rankings as other, larger Canadian universities, such as Ryerson and Windsor.
LU’s placement is above the worldwide median in three of five categories: Research, Citations, and International Outlook.
There is some SIJHL representation in the Canadian Junior Hockey League pre-season rankings.
The defending league champion Thunder Bay North Stars have been tabbed 12th in the nation.
The Fort Frances Lakers have received Honourable Mention.
The Lakers are hosting the 2020 Dudley-Hewitt Cup.
The Portage Terriers of the Manitoba League are ranked number one.
