The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre has officially lifted the Gastroenteritis outbreak advisory.
The alert was originally declared at the hospital on October 18th in an effort to minimize the potential spread of the infection.
The hospital confirms that they have resumed regular operations, although advise that hand washing is still important to remember at all times as Gastro is potentially present within the community.
People are also asked to reconsider visiting and booking non-urgent appointments at the hospital if they feel that they can potentially be contagious.
Many members of the public gathered at Sioux North High School today to officially open the brand new Confederation College location at the High School.
Many speakers and guests came out to celebrate the opening of the new location including Sioux Lookout Mayor Doug Lawrance.
The new facility has multiple classrooms including a computer lab, a health lab with realistic dummies for the nursing program as well as larger rooms for lectures and meetings.
The project was supported by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation with $1,050,000 as well as $350,000 from the Ministry of Colleges and University.

Anderson says she’s excited for the facility to open and help people in Sioux Lookout access post-secondary education without leaving their home community.
She also says the space is very modern and has been serving them well in meeting the needs of their students.
Following Anderson was Confederation College President Kathleen Lynch.
Lynch says students at the Sioux Lookout Campus will have access to state of the art education technologies with beautiful classrooms and spaces to meet student needs.
She also mentions that it expands on the college’s extensive history in Sioux Lookout as the college has been in the community for now 38 years.
Lynch also says it is important for the college to maintain a community presence which they help do with their partnership with Contact North.
From Contact North was the President and CEO Maxim Jean-Louis who also spoke about the connections they have to the college and northern communities.
Following the speakers was the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the brand new space.

A split on home court for the Sioux North Warriors.
Sioux Lookout hosted the Beaver Brae Broncos Wednesday.
The Warriors Junior Girls Basketball team outlasted Kenora 24-22, while the Junior Boys Volleyball team earned a 2 sets win. (25-13, 25-15, 14-25 *exhibition game)
Beaver Brae defeated Sioux North 43-22 in Senior Girls Basketball, while the Broncos downed the Warriors in straight set in Senior Boys Volleyball. (25-15, 25-22, 25-13 *exhibition game)
Provincial Police in Sioux Lookout are helping locate a stolen bicycle in the community.
Police say the bike was taken from the bike racks in front of the Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre on October 17th between 4:30pm and 6pm.
OPP say it is described as a light blue BMX bicycle with white tires and black rims.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sioux Lookout OPP at 807-737-2020 or 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police also urge the public to ensure their bikes are securely locked on a proper bike rack with a proper bike lock and to also try to ensure that both the wheel and frame are locked to the rack.
OPP also say it is beneficial to lock your bike in a well-lit, well-traveled area and do not park your bike on the street overnight.
A Gastroenteritis outbreak has been declared at the Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout.
As a precautionary measure all elective admissions, non-urgent transfers and social activities at the hospital have been suspended.
The public is being asked to refrain from visiting patients and non-urgent access to health care services is not recommended at this time.
If you must visit, you will have to check in at the nursing desk and you may be asked to wear a gown, gloves and a mask before entering a patient room.
You should also wash you hands or use one of the hand-sanitizing stations located throughout the facility.
All measures are being put into place to protect patients, visitors, staff and physicians.
