Teacher Talks To Continue As Classes Begin

A spokesperson for Ontario’s education minister says public elementary students will start school on Tuesday as scheduled.

In an email to our newsroom, Liz Sandals’ office says the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario has assured the province students will not experience a disruption.

Bargaining will continue as classes begin, with the parties also resuming face-to-face discussions on Tuesdays.

Discussions with the ETFO have happened all week, and her office says progress has been made with the assistance of a mediator.

Tentative deals were reached with Ontario’s high school teachers and its English Catholic teachers, last month. (Photo provided)
