Elementary school teachers from across the North and other parts of the Province are in Toronto for the Annual Meeting of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.
The province’s plan to introduce full-day learning for 4 and 5 year-old’s will be included in discussions.
President David Clegg says feels the government’s plan misses the mark.
Standardized testing will also be brought up.
Clegg says the results of those tests have led to schools being unfairly ranked across the province with smaller, northern schools often being placed at the bottom of the list.
He adds because of the lingering bitterness over this past spring’s contract negotiations, they felt it best not to invite Kathleen Wynne.
