‘Teaming Up To Read’ Campaign Launched To Build Literacy In The Community

An exciting new partnership to help local youth.

Domtar and the Dryden GM Ice Dogs are introducing the “Teaming Up To Read” campaign, aimed at building literacy skills.

Company Spokesperson Bonnie Skene and Ice Dogs GM Brian Bates were guests on the CKDR Morning Show Thursday to announce the program.

Skene says the initiative will be rolled out at Saturday night’s game at the Memorial Arena.

She says they will have a tent set up and will have books on display.

Skene stresses youth will be able to pick up a book for no charge.

Both sides say the campaign is all about encouraging reading and stress it’s a win-win situation.

Skene notes the Ice Dogs are an anchor in the community and the players are great role-models and Bates says this campaign fits nicely it its effort to be involved in the community.

Bates adds a couple of Ice Dogs players will be on hand Saturday night at the tent to talk about the importance of picking up a book.

Both hope to expand the program with reading days this Winter at the Dryden Library.

Game time Saturday is 7:30.
