They did it and proved to everyone that COVID can’t stop everything!!
Principal at Open Roads School in Dryden, Tannis Mitani-Oberg and Vice-Principal Terry Jackson took up the challenge of ‘Tent It For Terry’. Oberg and Jackson answered the successful Terry Fox school fundraiser last night by sleeping outdoors in separate tents on the school’s lawn.
The idea, sprung forward by school Terry Fox Run committee member Heather Friesen, was an overwhelming success! The goal was to raise $500 to have the administrators sleep outside the school in tents. (More on that from Heather Friesen here: https://www.ckdr.net/2020/10/06/tent-it-for-terry-open-roads-school-fundraiser/ )
As of 11:30 this morning over $1,300 was headed to the Canadian Cancer Society – with more funds said to be rolling in!!
Thanks to everyone who made this event an extraordinary win. You’ve kept Terry’s dream alive!
It case you missed it this morning here’s the event wrap-up interview with Open Roads Principal Tanis Mitani-Oberg and Vice Principal Terri Jackson:
