Aboriginal groups are calling for a 42,000 square kilometre area
that straddles Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario to be designated a ‘World
Heritage Site’.
Four First Nations plan to apply to the United Nations to have the
territory, which includes Pikangikum and Woodland Caribou Park, recognized
for its natural and cultural value.
The area has a wealth of forests, lakes and habitat for endangered
species.
Territory Could be World Heritage Site
